Decatur City Dance is the oldest performing dance group in DeKalb County. Now in its 66th season, it was established as a Junior Company of Atlanta Civic Ballet in 1952 and became an independent artistic entity in 1962.  I have been invited for many years to serve as a guest teacher and guest artist-in-residence.  Below is a list of works I have been commissioned to set on either the apprentice or junior ensembles of the company:

2019: Unfolding (Junior Ensemble)

2011: Conversations (Apprentice Ensemble)

Conversations is a work for a large group of dancers that utilizes the classical ballet vocabulary and explores the natural use of call and response.  This dance was created specifically for the dancers in the Apprentice Ensemble Company and the music of Dmitri Shostakovich challenged their ideas about musicality, rhythm and syncopation.
